How to Split a PDF

Splitting a PDF allows you to break a large document into smaller, more manageable files. You can extract just the pages you need, or separate every page into its own file.

  1. Upload Your PDF: Drag and drop your file into the uploader, or click "Select PDF File".
  2. Choose Your Method:
    • Page ranges: Type the pages you want to extract (e.g., "1-3, 5, 7-9"). The tool will create a new PDF for each range.
    • Single pages: This will extract *every* page from your document into its own separate PDF file.
    • Custom selection: Visually click on the page thumbnails you want to include. All selected pages will be combined into a new PDF.
  3. Split & Download: Click the "Split PDF" button. Once processed, download links for your new files will appear.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Is it safe to upload my PDF files?

Absolutely. We prioritize your privacy and security. All uploaded files are processed securely over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection. We do not store your data; all files are automatically and permanently deleted from our servers within one hour after processing is complete.

Will splitting the PDF reduce its quality?

No. Our tool performs a lossless split. The quality, layout, and formatting of the pages you extract will be identical to the original document. We only separate the pages you select without re-compressing or altering them.

Is there a file size limit?

Yes. To ensure fast processing for all users, we currently have a maximum file size limit of 50MB per PDF. Most documents, even those with many pages, fall well below this limit.

What does the "Page ranges" option do?

The "Page ranges" method gives you powerful control. You can create multiple new PDFs at once. For example:

If you enter 1-3, 5, 7-9, the tool will generate three separate PDF files:

  • One file containing pages 1, 2, and 3.
  • One file containing only page 5.
  • One file containing pages 7, 8, and 9.
