How to Unlock a PDF
This tool removes the password from an encrypted PDF file. You must know the correct password to unlock it.
- Upload Your PDF: Drag and drop your locked file into the uploader, or click "Select PDF File".
- Enter Password: Type the current password for the PDF in the password field. The "Unlock PDF" button will become active.

Is this process secure?
Yes. Your file and password are sent to our server over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection. We use the password to decrypt the file in memory, and then both the original file and the password are permanently deleted from our servers within one hour. We never see or store your password.
Can this tool 'crack' or 'guess' a password I don't know?
No. This tool is a password *remover*, not a password *cracker*. You **must** know the correct, current password for the PDF to remove it. We cannot guess or brute-force a password you have forgotten.
Why do I need to enter the password to remove it?
PDF encryption works like a digital safe. You can't remove the lock from the safe without first using the key (the password) to open it. This tool uses your password to open the file and then saves a new version without the lock.
