- Set Your Password: Type a secure password in the "Password" field.
- Confirm Your Password: Type the exact same password in the "Confirm Password" field. The "Protect PDF" button will only become active when the passwords match.
- Protect & Download: Click the "Protect PDF" button. Your file will be encrypted and a download for the new, password-protected PDF will start automatically.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Is this process secure?
Yes. Your file is sent to our server over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection. We add the password to encrypt it, and then the file is permanently deleted from our servers within one hour. We never see or store your password.
What if I forget my password?
We cannot recover your password. Because we do not store your password, there is no way for us to help you unlock the file if you forget it. Please be sure to store your password in a safe place.
Can I remove a password from a PDF?
Yes, but you must know the current password. You can use our Unlock PDF tool. You will need to upload the protected file and enter the correct password to receive a new, unlocked version.
Is there a file size limit?
Yes. To ensure fast processing for all users, we currently have a maximum file size limit of 50MB per PDF.
